Q: Where’s your favorite place to travel, or a dream destination you’d love to visit? My favorite place to travel has been South Africa. Seeing all the wild animals in their natural habitat was unreal. Japan is next on my bucket list.

Q: What’s one item you can’t live without? I absolutely cannot live without my chapstick. I have it on me at all times!

Q: What’s the first concert you ever attended? I went and saw NSYNC in Atlanta. Hoping they have a reunion tour soon

Dr. Emery Buckhouse was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina. She attended the University of South Carolina where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Having a mom in healthcare, she knew early in life she had a passion for helping others and decided to pursue a career in dentistry. She participated in multiple dental mission trips to Nicaragua and Mexico to serve others while doing what she loved.

Dr. Buckhouse went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). During her time there, she was involved in student organizations, serving as a class representative for the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) and as a member of the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD). She also took part in numerous community outreach programs through the Dental Community Fellowship.

Dr. Buckhouse completed a General Practice Residency at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, where she was trained in managing a variety of complex dental cases. She developed expertise in areas such as implant surgeries and restorations, tooth extractions, sedation dentistry, and caring for medically complex patients, allowing her to provide comprehensive care for a wide range of needs.

Dr. Buckhouse is excited to be serving the Columbia area and is passionate about getting to know the local community. When she’s not in the office, you’ll likely find her exploring new places, trying different cuisines, and discovering the best hidden gems the area has to offer. She’s also a huge college football fan, especially when it comes to cheering on her Carolina Gamecocks. Dr. Buckhouse truly values the opportunity to care for patients here in Columbia, and she looks forward to building lasting relationships while providing exceptional dental care.
