Q: What’s your most memorable travel experience? As a lover of travel, the most recent place we’ve been is Peru, which was stunning and had an absolutely amazing food scene. Next on my bucket list is Japan to see the cherry blossoms in bloom.

Q: If you weren’t a dentist, what other career could you see yourself in? I would open a wine and tapas bar. Columbia needs more intimate neighborhood spots.

Q: What volunteering or passion projects do you enjoy outside of work? I’m a certified yoga instructor, which has guided me in caring for both my body and mind. Dentistry is physically and mentally demanding, and yoga helps keep me at my best.

Dr. Virginia Owens is a native of Columbia, South Carolina, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia and her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2012.

With a lifelong appreciation for working with her hands and an interest in healthcare, she found dentistry to be the perfect blend of science, artistry, and patient care. Dr. Owens is committed to providing thoughtful, high-quality dental care and takes pride in helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their treatment. She values building strong, compassionate relationships with her patients and serving the community she calls home.

Dedicated to staying current with advances in dentistry, she regularly pursues continuing education to ensure her patients receive the most up-to-date techniques and treatment options. Her professional interests include crown and bridge restorations, endodontics, removable prosthodontics, and Invisalign treatment.

Outside of the office, Dr. Owens enjoys cooking, staying active at the gym, and traveling. She especially cherishes spending time with her husband, Eric, and their two young children, Hank and Annie.
