Fun Facts with Dr. Anderson

Q: What’s one exciting goal or adventure you’re looking forward to? One of my long term goals is to spend more time exploring the national parks. I would love to do more hiking and camping out west in places like Yellowstone, and one day I’d like to hike sections of the Appalachian Trail.

Q: If you weren’t a dentist, what other career could you see yourself in? When I first started at Purdue University, I was actually a Movement and Sports Sciences major. After a couple semesters I realized I enjoyed nutrition science much more, which luckily paired well with my interest in dentistry. If I hadn’t gone into dentistry, I probably would have ended up working somewhere in nutrition, health, or sports performance.

Q: What’s your favorite hobby or activity you enjoy on weekends? Anywhere I can throw a ball in the water and let my dog Brew chase after it is a good weekend. He’s a five year old black lab and loves swimming. I also enjoy taking a solo camping trip each summer. I brought Brew along this past year and while he made the hikes and swimming more fun, I did learn he’s not the best tent mate.

Q: Have you picked up any hobbies or interests lately? Lately I’ve been getting more into film photography and vintage cameras. One of my current projects is restoring a Canon AE-1 program camera so I can start shooting film again. I enjoy working with my hands and restoring older equipment, especially physical media and the vintage Pokémon games I grew up playing.

Q: What’s your favorite childhood memory? One of my favorite childhood memories was watching the Indianapolis Colts come back and win the Super Bowl after beating Tom Brady and the Patriots in the AFC Championship game. I also loved spending fall Saturdays watching Purdue football games at Ross Ade Stadium.

Q: What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever tried? One of the strangest sounding meals I’ve ever had is actually one of my favorites. At a popular restaurant near Purdue University, they serve a peanut butter double cheeseburger fully loaded with hashbrowns and jalapeño ketchup on the side. It sounds like a completely insane combination, but it’s absolutely delicious. It’s best chased down with a root beer float. I still think about that cheeseburger regularly.

Dr. Anderson's Story

Dr. Billy Anderson grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and developed an early interest in health, science, and helping others. He attended Purdue University where he earned his degree in Nutrition Science before continuing his education at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis.

During dental school, Dr. Anderson served as President of the Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity and worked as a teaching assistant for both first and second year dental students. During his final two years in dental school, he also served as the manager of the after-hours clinical labs. In this role, he spent several nights each week working alongside colleagues and faculty members on challenging cases, gaining additional hands-on experience while continuing to expand his clinical knowledge and skills.

Following graduation, Dr. Anderson has continued to pursue advanced training with a strong focus on surgical dentistry and dental implants. He has completed more than 100 hours of implant training, including advanced education in Chicago, Illinois. He is also well versed in oral surgery and digital dentistry and has a strong interest in the future of dental technology and how it can make dental care more comfortable, accessible, and efficient for patients.

Dr. Anderson enjoys helping patients rebuild their confidence through comprehensive care. He believes dentistry is about more than simply treating teeth. His philosophy centers on teaching patients how to care for themselves and empowering them to feel confident in their health and smile. By focusing on education, trust, and long term relationships, he works to make every visit comfortable and positive.

Outside of the office, Dr. Anderson enjoys spending time near the beach with his five year old black Labrador Retriever, Brew. He is an avid reader and enjoys collecting vintage video games and physical media. He is always happy to talk about whatever book he is currently reading. In his free time he also enjoys building Lego sets, exploring local barbecue, and working on his golf game. While he enjoys the challenge of golf, he’s happy to admit he is a much better dentist than golfer.
