Dr. Schmitt's Story
Dr. Charlotte Schmitt spent her early childhood in Annecy, France, before moving with her family to Greer as a teenager. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, where she joined the cheerleading team and cheered on her now-fiancé during football games.
Dr. Schmitt went on to attend Clemson University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Genetics in 2021. During her time there, she was an active member and leader of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, volunteered with ClemsonLIFE, a post-secondary education program for young adults with intellectual disabilities, and worked as a group fitness instructor on campus.
She then pursued her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. While at MUSC, Dr. Schmitt served as Vice President of Communications for the university-wide Student Government Association. Within the College of Dental Medicine, she was actively involved as a representative for the American Dental Education Association and as a member of the American Student Dental Association, American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry, and Hispanic Dental Association. She also dedicated her time to serving underserved communities through local free clinics and Remote Area Medical events.
In recognition of her leadership and academic achievements, Dr. Schmitt received the combined South Carolina Dental Association and Dr. Jim Howell Scholarship, as well as the Arthur L. Haisten Scholarship.
Dr. Schmitt is excited to return to the Greenville area with her high school sweetheart and their dog. She looks forward to giving back to the community that welcomed her years ago. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys staying active through fitness, skiing, and rollerblading. She also often travels back to France to visit family and stay connected to her roots.
