Fun Facts with Dr. Heitman

Dr. Heitman's Story
Dr. Heitman is a native South Carolinian, born and raised in Greenville. The son of two healthcare professionals, he developed a passion for serving others at an early age. After returning from a medical mission trip with his parents at 15 years old, he began his search to find his calling to serve others and quickly took an interest in the field of dentistry. After high school he enrolled at Presbyterian College where he graduated in 2015 with a BS in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. Immediately following his graduation from PC he made the move down to Charleston where he enrolled at the Medical University of South Carolina. During his time at MUSC he continued his passion for mission work traveling to both Ecuador and Peru to provide care in underserved communities. He graduated from MUSC in 2019 and commissioned into the United States Army. He began his military and dentistry career at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for a 1-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency where he was trained in comprehensive dentistry. After his residency training in Oklahoma, he was assigned to work at Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he joined the historic 101st Airborne Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team. In 2023 he deployed with his unit to Eastern Europe in support of our NATO allies. Upon returning from Europe, he made the decision that it was time for him to return to Charleston and pursue private practice. He is grateful for the opportunity to return to the Charleston community that he calls home.
In Dr. Heitman’s spare time he is an avid fisherman and hunter. He loves inshore fishing here in Charleston as well as traveling all around the world to fly fish. When he’s not on the water you can find Dr. Heitman on the golf course or out around town with his dog, Cash.
