Fun Facts with Dr. Siegwald

Q: If you couldn’t be a dentist, what would your second career be? It would have to be something with the Department of Natural Resources/ conservation of our great outdoors!

Q: What’s your idea of a perfect vacation? Disney World with my family and then fly fishing in the Florida Keys.

Q: When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up? I thought I was going to play in the NBA (still think I have a shot), but then eventually switched to a pediatrician.

Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? It would have to be any type of Indian cuisine. I’m a sucker for some gulab jamun.

Dr. Siegwald's Story

Joseph Siegwald grew up in Seattle, WA, and moved to Charleston, South Carolina, in 2012, graduating from Palmetto Christian High School in 2014. He then attended Anderson University, where he studied Biochemistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude. At Anderson University, Joseph ran track and field for two years, eventually having to stop due to an injury. He then switched his focus to cancer research and served on the board of the science club at AU.

He went on to pursue his career as a dentist at JBE Medical University of South Carolina’s Dental school. At MUSC, Joseph was involved in outreach programs such as Lady of Mercy of James Island, East Cooper Community Outreach, and the Greenville Medical Clinic. In 2022, he earned the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine. Joseph enjoys keeping up to date with current techniques and would like to pursue his Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentists.

He went on to spend a year in Pawleys Island, working with two great dentists and their team. During that time, Joseph also worked with Helping Hands of Georgetown, where free care is given to patients in need. In 2023, he decided to move back to the upstate and join Family Dental Health of Fountain Inn.

Joseph met his wonderful wife in high school and started dating at Anderson University. They were married in May 2020 at Lowndes Grove, Charleston SC. They have one son named Leo, and a golden doodle named Koda Bear. During his free time, Joseph likes spending time with his family outdoors and traveling. He greatly enjoys fly fishing, bow hunting, and watching any sport (especially the Clemson Tigers)!
