Dr. Julia Vance grew up in Upstate New York and became interested in dentistry at a young age. After three years in braces, she took notice of her new smile and realized how important her teeth and dental health truly was! After that, she spent time shadowing local dental offices through high school. She fell in love with the field’s unique blend of medicine, art, and attention to detail.

Julia attended Rochester Institute of Technology and earned a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with highest honors. For dental school, she chose to attend her state school, University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. During her time there, she was able to fully appreciate the many things that originally drew her to the field but ultimately found that her favorite aspect of dentistry was the relationships she formed with her patients. Upon graduating Cum Laude, Julia was honored to receive the Academy of General Dentistry Award which recognizes a student with exceptional clinical experience and knowledge in all aspects of general dentistry.

While Julia was in dental school, her parents relocated to Greenville, South Carolina for work. After her first visit, it didn’t take long to fall in love with the area. She visited as often as she could, spending summers and holidays here. It was one summer studying for her dental boards that she met her husband, Stephen, a native of the area. A friendship began which became a long-distance relationship. It became clear to Julia very quickly that moving to South Carolina was a no-brainer! She bid farewell to her last winter and moved to SC in 2017, and married Stephen shortly after. In 2021, Julia and Stephen welcomed a baby boy named Jeremy! Together, they reside in Simpsonville with their four cats, Willow, Oliver, Meadow, and Curry. They are happy to be close to both of their families, Julia’s office and Stephen’s job at Michelin’s Donaldson center research campus. 

In her free time, Julia enjoys reading, photography, and yoga. She also loves to cook and entertain with her husband, providing friends and family with a restaurant-worthy experience. Together, they love a good house project, exploring the Upstate’s newest places and spending time with their church small group. They can also be spotted at football games in the fall, cheering on Stephen’s alma mater, the Clemson Tigers!

Julia has worked in private practice in the Greenville area for the past several years and has had the opportunity to continue her education through courses in Invisalign, endodontics, laser therapy, oral surgery, restorative dentistry and, most recently, oral conscious sedation. Julia cares deeply about her patients and is passionate about providing care that is personalized, comfortable and gentle. She loves getting to know her patients and educating them to make informed decisions about their oral health. She is excited to join the Family Dental Health team and shares their vision to provide excellent and compassionate care to families in the upstate.
