Q: What’s your idea of the perfect vacation? My idea of a perfect vacation is quality time spent anywhere with my husband and 2 girls! (If it’s on a beautiful beach with white, powdery sand and clear, beautiful water that’s a plus!)

Q: What’s something people may not know about you? I was pretty good at basketball back in the day! You’d never know someone that is petite and 5’3 could make so many 3 pointers!

Leanna Carlton was born and raised in Greer, South Carolina.  She attended Greer High School where she played basketball and began dating her high school sweetheart, Blake, who she married in November 2016.  After high school, Dr. Carlton went to Clemson University where she received a degree in Biological Sciences in 2012 and graduated Summa Cum Laude.  She also received the Faculty Scholarship Award, which is given to graduates with the highest academic achievement.  Most of her free time at Clemson was spent playing intramural sports and cheering on the Tigers.

Dr. Carlton began dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2013.  She was very involved at MUSC’s College of Dental Medicine where she was on the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) Executive Committee, Vice President of the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD), a member of Dental Community Fellowship, a volunteer at the North Charleston Outreach dental clinic, and a member of intramural basketball teams. Dr. Carlton also served on multiple dental mission trips including weeks in Peru, Jamaica, and Ecuador.  She had the honor of being inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), the National Dental Honor Society, which elects 8 members of the graduating class who show integrity and promise to the profession of dentistry and have distinguished themselves by a high grade of scholarship.  Dr. Carlton also received the Academy of General Dentistry Senior Award, the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Award, and the Huynh/Huynh-Le Outstanding Senior Clinician Award at the graduation hooding ceremony.

After graduating from dental school in 2017, Dr. Carlton continued her education at a General Practice Residency program at the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina where she gained more experience in all areas of general dentistry.

Dr. Carlton is excited to serve patients in her hometown where she lives with her husband, Blake, and daughter, Blakely. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending time with her family and friends.  Dr. Carlton is a member of the American Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
