Dr. Berger's Story

Dr. Robert Berger opened this practice on May 5, 1969. He graduated from Emory University Dental School in 1966 and spent two and a half years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. This included a year in Vietnam from May 1967 to May 1968.

Dr. Berger has taken over 2000 hours of postgraduate study and earned a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a life member of the American Equilibration Society, the American Dental Association, and the South Carolina Dental Association. He is a fellow in the International Congress of Implantology and in the American College of Dentists. He has lectured on Temporomandibular Joint Therapy and for MUSC Dental School on the study club circuit. Additionally, he has voluntarily taught for eight years at MUSC on dental implant restoration. He has been placing and restoring dental implants since 1989.

Dr. Berger also has practiced all phases of restorative dentistry and is known for being capable of treating the most complicated cases. He possesses knowledge in all phases of dentistry and always emphasizes proper diagnosis and treatment planning prior to treating complicated situations.

Dr. Berger keeps himself in excellent physical condition, enjoys golf, hiking around town, and is always active in the community. He is an avid reader who especially likes historical works and thriller fiction. He has been selected as the “best dentist of the Midlands” yearly for many years by his peers in Columbia Metropolitan Magazine.

He has been married to Amy Berger since 2000 and has five children, two stepsons, and three grandchildren. His daughter Deidre Crockett practiced with him from 2006 to 2022 and now has her own dental practice. His son Marc has his own dental practice in the area. Rhett Berger works in real estate. Kenny Berger, a highly respected plaintiff lawyer, is located a block away at 5205 Forest Drive. Francie completed Georgetown Law School in May 2017 and practices at Winston and Strawn Law Firm in Washington, DC. His wife, Amy, has been a speech therapist and is retired at this time.
