Fun Facts with Dr. Moss

Q: What was your first job? My first job was refereeing when I was 13 and 14, but my first job that was in a traditional job environment was with first quality paper products in Anderson doing QC tests on the products, cleaning during shutdowns, and doing rework when I was 17.
Q: What do you enjoy the most about being a dentist? I love that I am able to combine working with my hands to make something and creative problem solving while improving people’s health and wellness.
Q: What are you surprisingly good at? Making up new lyrics to a song to make it relevant to a current situation. For example, Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys couldn’t possibly be about how your cat is destroying the couch. Wrong it could be and I did, in fact, sing that to Perri just the other day. Important notice, I am a terrible singer.
Q: What’s the first concert you ever went to? Mumford and Sons in Bristol TN. It was actually a festival of sorts, but I was there specifically to see Mumford and Sons.

Dr. Moss's Story

Dr. Moss was born outside of Chattanooga TN, where he spent much of his time growing up in the mountain woods camping, hiking and exploring with his sisters and older brother.
He also spent most of his childhood active playing travel soccer, basketball, and track and field. His family moved to Piedmont SC as he entered high school. He attended Wren high, graduating in 2013.
Dr. Moss attended USC Upstate on a soccer and academic scholarship. He majored in biology with an international studies minor focused on German, while playing soccer three of his years there (he took a medical redshirt his Jr. year due to a knee injury). His last semester, and half the next year were spent studying in Germany, and exploring Europe. This along with half a year coaching kids filled a gap year between undergrad and dental school for Dr. Moss.
Dr. Moss attended dental school at the University of Louisville. While excelling in the dental school, Graduating with honors,  Dr. Moss discovered a passion for rock climbing. He spent many of his weekends in the Red River Gorge lead climbing while studying for his next tests. Dr. Moss was active in the American Student Dental Association, attending several conventions, and being the photographer for the Louisville branch.
After graduation Dr. Moss knew that he wanted to return to the Upstate to be closer to his family after being unable to travel home during the COVID lockdowns. During undergrad he had shadowed with several dentists in the area and reach out to them when looking for work. From that he was put in touch with Family Dental Health where he found a good fit. His first year was spent filling in for other doctors at several different FDH locations before finding his home in Easley.
Dr. Moss has enjoyed being back around family enabling him to go climbing with his nieces and nephews and be the cool Uncle Sam. He continues to climb at Blochaven and has picked up golfing with his friends and peers Dr. Fox at Furman and Dr. Haggard of Seaglass periodontics. While not doing those two activities Dr. Moss is most likely spending time with his girlfriend Perri and their cat Ziggy or painting miniatures to keep his fine motor skills sharp.
Dr. Moss looks forward to helping you achieve your dental goals and having a healthy smile!
