Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? An astronaut! I fell in love with space at space camp and begged my parents to take me to a shuttle launch in 6th grade!  

Q: How do you feel about putting pineapple on pizza? Pepperoni and pineapple is my favorite! 

Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Chicken quesadilla with chips and queso! 

Q: If you couldn’t be a dentist, what would your second career be? A wedding planner or an attorney. 

Q: Does your family have any weird traditions? We wear matching pajamas on Christmas morning, even the dogs!

Mackenzie has aspired to be a dentist since she was in seventh grade. Her own dental journey, which included orthodontics, implants, root canal therapy, and various restorations inspired her to pursue dentistry. Mackenzie grew up in Seneca, South Carolina and graduated from Walhalla High school in 2015. She attended the University of South Carolina for her undergraduate studies. While at South Carolina, Mackenzie was an active member in Phi Mu sorority and served as a University Ambassador. In 2019, she graduated with a B.S. in Public Health and a minor in Business Administration from the South Carolina Honors College.  

After graduating from South Carolina, Mackenzie attended the Medical University of South Carolina James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, and she earned her degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2023. 

During Mackenzie’s time at MUSC, she served as MUSC Student Government Association Vice President of Communications and Student Body President. She was an active member of the American Student Dental Association, the American Association of Women Dentists, and the Academy of General Dentistry student chapter. She participated in local and international service with Dental Community Fellowship.  

In her free time, Mackenzie enjoys spending time outside, traveling, playing golf, and cheering on the Gamecocks. Mackenzie now lives in Summerville with her goldendoodle, Melly. Mackenzie is excited to serve the people of Goose Creek!
